Goodbye 2012 you've been good to me...

I can't believe that another year has passed. 2012 has been mostly good, although sad with it being the first year without my brother. A year already, wow.

But this year bought me the most amazing gift, Ava. I don't know what I would do without her, she is everything. We moved house twice (in one year! Crazy!), went on our first family holiday to Cyprus and had lots of fun along the way.

I learnt a lot about myself this year, I learnt that no matter how many books you read or episodes of "One born every minute" you watch you will NEVER be prepared for motherhood, I learnt that moving house is literally the worst thing and I never want to do it again-I'm happy here, thank you and I learnt to appreciate my life a bit more, I think that before everything happened with my brother I really did take my life for granted. I have learnt that life is fleeting and I am stronger than I thought I was.

I'm looking forward to 2013, sometimes I wish I had a crystal ball but I hope it brings me good things.

I have a few goals for next year, mainly:
-Plan my wedding
-Get fit
-Drink more water
-Take more photos
-Stop being so messy and be more organised.

We shall see if any of these happen!
Below are a few of my favourite pictures from this year.

I hope that 2013 is good to you, I hope your dreams stay big and your worries stay small.

I started the year pregnant...

Week Round-Up #2

With all of the craziness last week I didn't have time to do a week round-up post.

Wearing-  I need new clothes! Badly.

Watching- I bought the Kings of Leon "Talihina Sky" DVD for Nath. I watched it the other night and loved it. It's a real honest look into the band's life. It's so refreshing to see that even though they are a world famous band they're still so down to earth.

Eating- Too much chocolate! We were bought so much for Christmas. I feel sick just looking at it but I can't stop eating it.

Listening to- Ellie Goulding, love her new stuff and also the new Will-I-Am & Britney song, I know it's terrible, it's just so annoyingly catchy!

Thinking about- My goals for 2013, mainly getting in shape and starting to organise my wedding for 2014

Highlight of the Week- Spending time with my mum and the rest of the family. Not a highlight is Ava still being ill.

Change is good

I've changed my blog name. I've been thinking about changing it for a while and I think the name fits a mummy blog pretty well. Describing the main feeling that you have for your child.

I also wanted my blog name and URL to match.

I really want to change the design so please let me know if you can help or know someone who can.

Thank you.

Baby's pamper evening

I was sent a lovely parcel full of Travel Goodies by Miamoo earlier in the week and tonight I thought that I would try the products out on Ava as she been feeling a bit crappy and what girl doesn't love a pamper session?!

I love this little kit, perfect for taking away with you, it comes with six mini products & a lovely cream flannel all popped together in a handy little wash bag.

We started off with a nice warm bath & (LOTS) of bath toys (I actually jumped in with her and sat on her plastic turtle. Not cool!) The product names are so fun and original and the cow sketches are very cute.

First up was the Splashy Wash "brimming with lemon oil & aloe vera". I liked this wash a lot, not as heavily perfumed as some of the baby washes I've used in the past (a good thing in my book) and it smelt lovely and fresh. Next up was the Fresh Locks Shampoo (my favourite), this smelt absolutely gorgeous, no joke I kept sniffing Ava's head a lot after using this. I will definitely be buying the bigger version of this. It smells of lavender and geranium and is just very very lovely.

Out of the bath and we were on to stage 2. Moisturising. We used the Huggy Lotion, of which I have the big bottle, and followed up with the Cheeky Cream, which is a nappy cream. Now quite honestly I have never used a different cream on Ava's bum bar Sudocream. I am a big Sudocream fan but I thought I would give this one a whirl. The cream was a lot lighter than what I am used to and very silky. As I am used to the thickness of Sudocream it felt very different but I am going to see how I get on with this one, could be another purchase.

Lastly I gave Ava a little massage with the Baba Oil (spoilt much?!) it's infused with lavender and sweet almond and smelt gorgeous. There was also a Spritz and Wipe spray which I haven't yet got around to using but it looks to be something very handy to carry around in your baby bag in case baby gets grubby whilst you're out.

All in all I really recommend this product, it's perfect for going away or as a gift. The samples are just the right size and I love every single one of them. I'm looking forward to seeing how Ava's skin is in the morning (and sniffing her hair again). You can purchase from the Miamoo website or in selected Boots stores.

So all in all our pamper evening was successful- apart from sitting on the plastic turtle. Fun times.

Which product shall we use mum?

New years resolutions in a nutshell...

Oh crikey, I think I might burst...

Remember that post a couple of days ago about me stuffing my face over Christmas? Well it happened and now I feel so sick and bloated but I just can't stop!!!

The food was amazing on Christmas day. Turkey with all the trimmings for lunch (with pate to start and apple crumble to finish, obviously), then for tea we went buffet style- my favourite as you can just pick at what you fancy. Then people always buy you chocolate, biscuits etc. In our case we also had chocolate bought for Ava but she doesn't eat it yet which means I have to (if I must. Such a chore). And yesterday we had another buffet meal followed by lots of takeaways and eating out in between. I'm going to become a biffer!! I just love food, and it always tastes better when you don't have to cook it yourself.

I feel SO unhealthy now but I just cannot be bothered to cook. Nath and I have decided that come January we are going to eat healthy/go to the gym/drink lots of water.

Haha! How long until this lasts?! At least the good intention is there!

Done for another year...

Good grief Christmas came and went like a quick whipping tornado! And Santa bought me something I didn't ask for this year-a sick baby! Ava fell ill on Christmas eve-typical. She has conjunctivitis, a cold and a temperature so she didn't really enjoy her first Christmas at all. We were gutted, we'd been so looking forward to some family time but it's been so stressful! And now it's allover, for another year, I always find Christmas to be a bit of an anti-climax, all the weeks leading up to it, the anticipation and after a few hours it's over (yes I am feeling a little scrooge-like at the moment). Hopefully Ava will be well enough to enjoy herself next year, and she'll be a little older.

However, we've been very spoilt, thank you so much to our family and friends. Ava has had some beautiful things! I think we need an extension for all of Ava's toys! I'm looking forward to a nice rest for a few days until I go back to work. And in a couple of weeks Nath and I are having a night in Chester to shop and have a meal. I'm very much looking forward to that. No plans for NYE here, Nath isn't a big fan either so I think we're going to stay in. We're 20-odd coming on 70 I tell ya!

I'm also looking to revamp my blog, I'm even thinking of changing the name so if anyone knows of a good blog designer (reasonably priced) let me know.

2 more sleeps!!

Wow! I can't believe that we only have 2 more sleeps until Christmas! Exciting. I braved the shops with my mum and Ava today, it actually wasn't that bad and mum got me a cute dress to wear on Christmas day (spoilt!) thanks mum!! Bad news though, I feel ill! Major sad face. My throat feels sore and I have a headache, but I refuse to be ill on Christmas day. If I lose my taste on Christmas day shizz is going down! I need to stuff my face! End.

I'm dosing myself up big time, was on the hot lemon and honey then headed out for a little reunion meal with my friends this evening while Nath put Ava to bed, a few of my friends live in London and one in Cardiff so come Christmas we all get together and have a good laugh. I went out on Friday night-FYI I don't get out much, since having Ava I've been out a handful of times- it was so much fun, we had a few cocktails and (too many) Jagerbombs! I was home by 11.30, pizza in hand! I had a real "I have nothing to wear!" moment on Friday, even though my wardrobe is stuffed to the brim, if I go shopping these days I always end up with outfits for Ava and not myself (mummy problems) so I've not bought anything new for a while. Anyway I pulled out this lovely little Yumi dress that I've had for years-no joke- threw on my trusty Zara blazer and River Island ankle boots and I was off. To be fair it was a bit short and I don't do tights so I'm guessing that's where I've picked up this gorgeous cold. I have no one to blame but myself. I'm useless at taking photos on nights out but below are a couple that I took on Friday. Also I think that Ava is getting ill. So gutted I don't want her to be ill for her first Christmas. Sigh. I am charging up our camera so I'm going to make myself take some pictures on Christmas day! Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone. X
