Aleva Naturals Review

Bath time is a favourite in our house. Ava's enjoyed her baths from an early age and I always have to take the plug out so that it makes that sucky noise in order to get her out. I know, I'm a cruel mother.

However I've always struggled to find bath products suitable for Ava's skin, she tends to suffer with dry skin on her back and patches behind her knees and in between her elbows. I've never used Johnson's products in the bath as I've always found them too heavily perfumed and my brand of choice has always been "Little me", unfortunately I just can seem to shift her dry skin.

We were recently given the opportunity to try some Aleva Naturals products and we have been testing them out over the last few weeks.

Aleva Naturals offer safe and natural plant-based products for the whole family. Made in Canada these products contain only the purest, baby-friendly ingredients.

On first impressions I honestly wasn't that taken with the overall design of the products. I have to admit I'm drawn to "pretty" items and this design felt a little too clinical for me and not as child friendly as other brands. Having said that I did think that the bumble bee image was very cute but I wasn't sold on it's general appearance.

We were sent the 2 in 1 Hair and Body Wash and the Daily Soothing Moisturizer.

The Hair and Body Wash comes in a pump dispenser which gives it a light, foamy texture which I really liked. It contains Organic Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Natural Chamomile & Tea Tree Oil. The Tea Tree Oil helps to wash away flakes of cradle cap but I must admit I wasn't keen on the smell. To me, Tea Tree is used as an anti-blemish solution and I was concerned that it would dry Ava's skin out even more. Again I didn't think that the scent was very child friendly and if Ava was a newborn I'm not sure I would have used it. Although that is down to personal preference.

The Daily Soothing Moisturizer however was a different kettle of fish! I love it. The general appearance again isn't that child friendly but I really loved the buttery texture of this cream. Again, it came in a pump action bottle so you can get as little or as much as you need. It contains Organic Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Natural Almond Oil & Oatmeal Extracts and it specially formulated for dry skin or eczema. You can use it on newborns and apply to the face. The scent this time was gorgeous, I found it slightly orangey.

I'll have to admit that I haven't been using the moisturizer as religiously as I should. Ava isn't keen on being smothered in moisturizer after her bath so I have only been able to use it a couple of times and have yet to see results on the dry skin on her back. Although I'm happy to report that the dry skin behind her knees and inbetween her elbow has disappeared! I have great faith in this cream and will be using it, as the bottle says, on a daily basis.
